When looking for a good SUV it can sometimes be daunting based on the number of SUV models available. Manufacturers of SUVs sometimes market different models which are almost identical to other models that they offer. To help, here is a list of the top ten SUV s of all time. These rating are based on the reliability, fuel economy, and quality of the models listed.

1. Chevrolet/GMC Suburban – Often marketed under the Chevrolet or GMC brand name, the suburban has a long standing reputation as one of the best SUVs of all time. The suburban is a full-size suv and was one of the first SUVs to ever be marketed. Today, the overall body of the Suburban hasn’t changed much. 2. Ford Excursion – Introduced in the 1990s during the “bigger is better” craze, the excursion is a sight to behold. Built on a full-size truck chassis, the excursion is one of the largest SUVs ever produced. Beyond that, its reliability is second to none and the quality of this model is impeccable. Fuel economy is nothing to brag about for the excursion however, for the space, its worth the extra buck in fuel if you can use the space.

3. Honda CR-V – This model has also been in production for a very long time. The CR-V has undergone many changes. So much that today’s models barely resemble the early models of this vehicle. The CR-V made number 3 on this list solely to fuel economy and reliability. Many Honda SUV owners have had problems with the quality of craftsmanship. Beside that, CR-V’s have no problem riding 250,000 miles on original equipment.

4. Mercury Mountaineer – Showing striking resemblance to the Ford Explorer, the mountaineer is a beautiful SUV. It shows on this list before the explorer due to the quality of craftsmanship that mercury has.

5. Toyota 4 Runner – Similar to the Honda CR-V, the 4 runner is a highly economical SUV. The 4 runner was Toyota’s answer to Honda’s CR-V and reflects heavily in its styling. Another high fuel economy and highly reliable auto.

6. GMC Yukon/Chevrolet Tahoe – Almost exactly the same model produced by General Motors, these two have no problem make the list of top ten suv. These Suvs are still full-sized, but much shorter that suburban models. This reflects in the fuel economy of these models.

7. Chevy Tracker – A long time since these have been in production but, you still see a lot of them on the road. One of the most reliable vehicles ever built by chevy, the tracker is a very small SUV and boasts fantastic gas mileage for a SUV.

8. Dodge Durango – A large SUV that is quite a sight to see. Dodge Durango’s boast great quality of craftsmanship.

9. Ford Escape Hybrid – The escape is not much of a car but the hybrid model boasts gas mileage of upwards of 30 mpg on the highway and in the city.

10. Jeep Wrangler – Last on the list of top ten suv is the wrangler. This model has been in production for decades and therefore is very reliable. Not much cargo space though.
